How do I schedule a tour of Memory Lane?

Give us a call at (734) 849-4220 to schedule a time that's convenient for you. After the tour, if you're interested in moving forward, our Recreational Therapist will provide an assessment for your family member to get to know them and see which of our three homes they'd enjoy living in the most.

Do you have current availability?

Memory Lane has three residences each with six private bedrooms. If all bedrooms are occupied, we are happy to add your loved one to a waiting list — please contact us today for a tour and to be placed on the list.

Can my loved one stay at Memory Lane through end-of-life?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We want Memory Lane to be the best place that your loved one lives, and remove any stresses associated with moving. Memory Lane is equipped for residents until the end of their lives, where their new family and friends will always be with them.

Question 4

How do you keep residents safe?

Accepted Answer

Our homes and grounds are monitored 24/7 by a video security system, and our homes are fully alarmed for utmost safety. Our staff-to-patient ratio is more than double what you'll get at most other homes — someone will always be there to respond and ensure residents are safe. Many facilities have a ratio of 1:10 during the day and up to 1:24 at night. Our ratio is 1 staff member for every 3 residents during the day and 1 for every 6 at night.

What do the homes look like?

Our Memory Lane homes are beautiful 6-bedroom homes in a peaceful Ypsilanti neighborhood. Each house is not just "home-like" — it is actually a home. We have a large deck on the back of the houses where residents can enjoy the warmer months and spend time together doing activities that add purpose and fulfillment to every life.

When can I visit my loved one?

Families are welcome and encouraged to visit from 10:00am to 5:30pm. We respect our residents' need for a consistent daily routine — early mornings and late evenings are reserved for consistent wake and bedtime routines and scheduled hygiene needs with our caregivers. Visiting hours are limited to control overstimulation at critical points in the daily routine and keep life safe, predictable, and consistent.

What activities happen day-to-day?

Every day we're engaged in activities that make life feel purposeful: daily exercise, social activities, craft projects, cooking and light cleaning (even just cracking an egg or dusting a shelf), eating meals together, celebrating holidays, and other fun activities.

Question 8

How does transportation to outside appointments work?

Accepted Answer

Outside visit transportation must be arranged by the resident's family or guardian. You can pick your loved one up for a visit or hire a medical transportation service. We're happy to help get them in and out of a vehicle. We do have physician services that visit our home regularly, as well as visiting podiatrists; physical, occupational, and speech therapists; hospice services; and a hairdresser to meet all needs in-house if you choose.

Can I take my loved one out for visits?

Accepted Answer

You're welcome to take your loved one home or out to activities and events. We do request notification at least 2 days prior for appropriate preparation and planning to make sure your loved one is ready to leave the home. There may be situations of advanced disease where we would recommend against leaving the home except for healthcare appointments.

How much does memory care at Memory Lane cost?

Our flat monthly rate is $9,500 for a regular room and $9,900 for a master suite with private bath. This rate is all-inclusive: room and board, 24/7 care, three home-cooked meals a day, normal use care supplies, recreational activities, and housekeeping. The price does not increase as care needs change.

Question 11

Does Medicare or Medicaid cover memory care?

Accepted Answer

No. Medicare and traditional health insurance don't pay for long-term Alzheimer's or dementia care, and Medicaid doesn't reimburse for this level of care. We do accept long-term care insurance and are approved by many plans.
